They came back from their jumping the shark with Eat Your Face and Shave The Planet, but now after the latter's related tour, Mark has no original musicians from the band, so they're reduced to a touring only band. Anyway I recommend 2004's Eat Your Face and 2006 Shave The Planet if you were annoyed by Covered with Ants and Gusto (even themselves hate Gusto).
This is some of my favorite Guttermouth material. Recorded between the first two albums, and these songs aren't on any other releases. Fun, snotty, un-PC punk from these California goofs. These guys were also pretty fast, overall, which is a bonus to me. This was before they kinda jumped the shark (or I just got outgrew their shtick).
I just noticed I had replied to dave_hoffs already, heh, oh well I gave more details as to why "they", Mark remaining the only original member and haven't recorded an LP in 9 years and Mark is not the kind of singer that's interchangeable, that could sing for another new band, he's way too recognizable as the singer of Guttermouth like when you recognize him like how one recognizes Zoli Teglas, Jim Lindberg, Fat Mike, Greg Graffin, Dexter Holland etc., so he has some musicians for touring and only recorded a song on a tribute to Bad Religion album (which kicks ass, it's "Pity") and like I said an EP with another band I don't know of. These days the band should "split" and go by Mark Adkins and The "somethings".
Oh they were good until the 2000's kicked in, 2 attempts at making money with very poppy songs (the pop punk they would make fun of on a song recorded in '97, Lipstick, which sounded like a Blink 182 songs but with extremely non-PC lyrics, a kind of NOFX's Please Play This Song On The Radio on steroids. It's kinda funny because in the first bad release of the early 2000's, one of the decent songs on it "Secure Horizons" explains kinda why they did what they did (they blew all the money they had made since getting fame circa 94). Then they came up with 2 back to the form albums and the 2 original guitarists left the band (with the original bassist and drummer long gone) after touring for that last great album in 2007. Since then they're a touring band, I think they released a split EP this year so....Mark is an entertaining singer, but my bet is that he can't play an instrument, James T. Kirck and Derek Davis were the guys writing the music together pretty much, as far as I know.
