This album is such a rich funky thick and drippy pre-80s 1979, Brent has just been there for a few months and is settling into what'll be one of the great keyboarders for the 'Dead in that era up till his untimely tragic death in 1990, this album shows a live performing band at it's most groovily rung-out-by-the-drug-out's of the 70s and makes way for some of the sonic aesthetic that made the 80s-era Dead as hot as they were. They were hot approximately between the years 1965-1995 (that's a joke, it's their entire career, sure there were up's and down's and good shows and bad, but there is, has, and will never be anything like The Grateful Dead in Rock N Roll ever again. Their story, the history and counter-culture they were part of and defined and were the creators of so many innovations in the music industry, live performances, and within the realms of sub-culture and the popular culture affect of the Deadheads as some of the greatest most fervent and hardy fans of any group in the history of rock n roll.
What is the difference between these two versions?I see that it's the numbers on the runout but why is that a big deal?
is this album numbered in any way, either on the insert or spindles? it says edition of 7,900...
Very Old Chap
Brent's organ work on Bertha > Good Lovin is unbelievable, really a Booker T sound with the Leslie goin'. His vigorous playing elevates the band's energy incredibly.
Side 3 is stellar: Estimated > Eyes
Уou ll never walk alone
This is my first dead album. Sounds great. I didn't even want to open the thing but i figure hey why not. I am allowed to have some joy in my life.
Bad Sunny

Damn, why was I never at a Grateful Dead gig? The hampton '79 vinyl release is as close as it gets for me. Good jams, great sound! Not their best live release but excellent buy for record store day 2014.
